TKP welcomes Junelyn Noro as its Project Coordinator

The Kainake Project is pleased to announce that Ms. Junelyn Noro is joining the organization as its volunteer Project Coordinator in March 2019. TKP has been operating on pro bono by volunteers since its inception in 2014. Junelyn holds a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Papua New Guinea. She will play a significant role in project management in the communities in Bougainville and also coordinating research.

As part of her leadership and development pathway, Junelyn has undergone several training programs organized by various institutions.

In June 2019, Junelyn attended a Course on Museum Conservation funded through the PNG-Australia Partnership. It was jointly delivered by the PNG National Museum and Art Gallery and the University of Canberra in partnership with the International Council on Monuments and Sites. The workshop aimed to understand the importance of museums and the conservation of traditional objects and values in their original state as much as possible so that knowledge can be passed on from generation to generation.

In August 2019, Junelyn was invited by the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) to attend a Women Leaders Forum. This women leaders training program was a continuation of the Inter-generational Leadership Learning Program implemented between 2017-2018. A mentor and mentee were paired together from each of the Coral Triangle countries. They were provided training on inter-generational learning, leadership, conservation, and project management so they can address conservation challenges in their areas while learning from each other.

Junelyn will use these learnings and tools to work in the communities in Bougainville. With Junelyn’s leadership and involvement, we hope to reach out to more women in the community and work with them to ensure sustainable rural development.
